The NFL season becomes more interesting as it goes along. Pressure-packed situations have emerged for week 11, and every team in the league is aware of the stakes. Here’s a look at the best NFL betting matchups to handicap in your sportsbook.
Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals
This is a game that really could go to Cleveland, which can now entertain realistic notions of catching the Bengals in the AFC North. Cincinnati’s best defensive lineman, Geno Atkins, is out for the rest of the season with an injury suffered on Oct. 31 against Miami. Cincinnati’s defense has to be disruptive, given that its offense is so inconsistent. The Bengals need to be able to establish control of the line of scrimmage with their defensive front in the first half of a ballgame so that they can play with a lead in the second half. Without Atkins, Cincinnati becomes a much less imposing team, one that might not be able to generate any real separation from its competitors. Cleveland can steer this game into the fourth quarter and win it late.
Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles
This is a game that isn’t easy to bet on. The Eagles are at home, but that doesn’t mean they’re in an advantageous position. Philadelphia is 5-1 on the road this season but 0-4 at home. The Eagles have something of an identity crisis that they need to solve, but then again, they’ve been revived the past two weeks by the emergence of quarterback Nick Foles, who looks as though he is going to become a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL. Foles is probably the best reason to take the Eagles in this game, though the home-field curse is something this team must work hard to figure out.
Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is a game in which the Buccaneers will gain their best chance to win an NFC game and, moreover, an NFC South Division game. If the Bucs can’t pounce on the injury-ravaged Falcons, they’ll likely go winless against the NFC South for the whole season.
