MLB Sportsbook Preview: AL East Still Up For Grabs With Three To Play
After 159 games played for both teams, there is not one win to separate the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles heading in to the final week of the season. The Yankees and Orioles are tied for top spot in the American League East with three games to play, even though New York’s plus-115 run differential dwarfs the plus-11 mark that Baltimore has registered so far this season. The division title will come down to three games for both teams this week, with the Yankees in Boston to play the Red Sox and the Orioles in Tampa Bay for three against the Rays. The loser of the division race is already guaranteed at least a playoff spot with a minimum 92 wins each, but that won’t slow down either team from chasing its goal. Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers are now both one game away from clinching their respective divisions, with the Tigers set to take on the Kansas City Royals and the Rangers matched up against an Oakland Athletics’ team that needs one win to clinch the final Wild Card spot, but it still three back of Texas for the division lead.
NFL Betting Preview: Undefeated Cardinals Visit Rams For Thursday Night Football
There weren’t many if any sportsbook experts that predicted the Arizona Cardinals would be undefeated at 4-0 through the first four weeks of the NFL regular season. However, after a 24-21 comeback win over the Miami Dolphins in overtime the Cardinals have established themselves as a legitimate contender in the NFC. A stout defense and efficient offense has been the difference so far, although Arizona could face a tough matchup in St. Louis on short rest. The Rams are undefeated through two games at home with wins over the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks, and will look to spoil the undefeated start for Arizona on Thursday night.
College Football Betting Preview: #13 USC Travel To Utah Thursday
In the PAC-12 football matchup that everyone will be watching this week, the #13 USC Trojans will travel to Utah to face the unranked Utes with the chance to climb above .500 in the PAC-12. After opening the year ranked No. 1 in the country, USC earned a couple of unconvincing wins before a tough loss at Stanford provided a major setback. The Trojans managed to rally last week in California, but now have to play the first of back-to-back road games at Utah on short rest.
NHL Preview: League, Players Still No Closer To CBA Resolution
The NHL and its players concluded weekend meetings no closer to reaching an agreement on the fundamental economic issues that have stalled talks between the two sides, so while they did work on the secondary issues the two sides are no closer to getting a deal done than they were a week ago. The two sides did not meet again on Monday, and while the possibility is there to resume discussions later in the week there does not seem to be any sense of urgency with either side to get the deal done.
