The Chicago Blackhawks took care of business in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal with the Detroit Red Wings. However, Game 2 could be far more challenging. The Red Wings looked fatigued in the first contest as they were coming off a physical seven-game series with the Anaheim Ducks.
The Blackhawks have had the Red Wings number this season as they’ve now won all five meetings. Goals have been hard to come by for Detroit as they’ve totaled just six goals in those five contests. They’ll definitely need more offense if they’re to steal Game 2.
The good news for Detroit is that the Blackhawks best weapons have been muzzled so far. The Blackhawks have scored 21 goals through six playoff games but it might surprise you that captain Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, who combined for 46 goals in the regular season, have yet to score in the playoffs.
The trends favor the Blackhawks for Game 2 as they are 16-3 this season when scoring four or more goals in their previous game and they are 17-2 against division opponents.
