San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has reportedly asked the 49ers to release him once the Super Bowl has finished. Smith has been in this position before, as the team and he had issues finding common ground before the start of the season. Once Smith went down with a concussion, he lost the job to the young and explosive Colin Kaepernick.
Many sports betting and particularly NFL betting fans have had enough of Smith’s whiny escapades. With his starting job officially out of his hands, what is to stop the 49ers from releasing him? He is due to earn $8.5 million dollars next season, and the former no. 1 pick could save the 49ers some money to spend on resigning their starting players.
Ever since Smith entered the NFL he has been underperforming. The 49ers had the chance to take Aaron Rodgers and instead chose Smith…a bad choice. Betting sites love to point out that the to be Super Bowl MVP wanted to go to San Francisco, but the team passed. If Smith is playing poker with the 49ers again, he better be careful, because this time the 49ers will call his bluff and send him packing. The chances of Smith finding a starting job is slim to nil at this point in the NFL.
