NFL Preview: New England Patriots in the Super Bowl

The New England Patriots have almost completely recovered after their first three weeks of the NFL season. The dreadful start left many NFL betting fans and analysts to wonder if Bill Belichick was starting to lose his magic touch. Of course, in true Patriot fashion, Tom Brady and friends have made a mockery of the AFC East and are once again Super Bowl contenders. They have been betting favorites for the majority of their games. But will they make it to the big game in 2013?

The Patriot offense has always been the team’s strongest asset. Future hall of famer Tom Brady was able to lead the team with the help of receivers Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd. Meanwhile on the ground Stevan Ridley is proving himself on the ground. Although as of late, the offense has had a couple of rough starts to their games against the 49ers and even more embarrassingly the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, they have been able to make their way back, allowing Brady to keep his beloved nickname “the comeback kid”.

The defense is where the Patriots need to improve. Every year there seems to be some issues within the defensive secondary, but this season when playing well the defense is one of the best in the NFL. Vince Wilfork is leading the defensive line, with Ninkovich becoming a sack machine.

So that leaves us with the question, will the Patriots make it to the Super Bowl. They have all the qualities of a Super Bowl team, are very talented and have one of the best play callers in the game today. However, their raw talent and balance is not there. The team is so great offensively, but when Brady gets in a groove, it can have disastrous results. They have proven that they can take care of teams like the Texans and Broncos when they play well. However, it is easy to see their faults if they do not play well.

Luckily, for the Patriots, they are an AFC team. They can beat power houses like the Broncos and Texans. Within the division, they remain the team to beat and a force to be reckoned with inside the conference. So to answer the original question, will the Patriots make the Super Bowl? Many sports betting sites and online sports books seem to think that the answer is yes.
