NBA Betting – The Nets and Knicks Go at it in a Rematch

Brooklyn Nets @ New York Knicks – Wednesday December 19, 2012 7:00PM EST

The sportsbook experts do not blame the NBA for throwing some hype on the first game between the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks. It was a game played in Brooklyn’s new arena and the atmosphere was filled with energy. The league called it the “Battle of New York” and, in all reality, the players probably bought into the hype as well. The first game of this brand new rivalry was a close contest that the Knicks won in the closing seconds.

When the game was over, the sports betting media asked the Knicks players what they thought about the new rivalry. One Knick player put it best when he said that it was “still the Nets.” It looks like Brooklyn is going to have to earn respect from the New York Knicks as none will be given freely. The Knicks is rapidly becoming one of the best teams in the NBA and it is sustaining its winning ways. As the Nets-Knicks series heads into its second game, there is a lot more on the line than just bragging rights. Each time the Nets lose to the Knicks, the Nets fall further and further down in the Eastern Conference standings.

New York Knicks

Veteran guard Jason Kidd was the story of the last meeting between these two teams as it looked like he could not miss a shot from anywhere on the floor. Kidd also spent the majority of his time setting up Carmelo Anthony for some sweet inside shots. Now that the sports betting online experts are pretty convinced that Jason Kidd has made New York forget about Jeremy Lin, it is time to see if Kidd can dominate the Nets in the second contest and help the Knicks to come away with another win over its divisional foe.

Brooklyn Nets

Joe Johnson could not get anything to fall for him in the first meeting between these two teams. Truth be told, the Nets were its own worst enemy the first time Brooklyn played New York. The betting sites noted that the three-point shooting for Brooklyn was awful and the free throws were not much better. If the Nets could have connected on more of its shots, the first game may have been very different. That means that Brooklyn has some kind of an answer as to how to play defense against the Knicks. It is not a perfect answer, but it may be enough to come away with the win.

The Bottom Line

The New York Knicks is still trying to prove that it is a real playoff contender. The Brooklyn Nets is trying to prove that it is not a flash in the pan either. This game will be close, just like the last one. But the results may prove to be a bit different.
