Brooklyn Nets @ Chicago Bulls – Saturday March 2, 2013 8:00PM EST
The online sports book experts are fairly convinced that the Brooklyn Nets has successfully emerged from the shadow of the New Jersey Nets. Most analysts were constantly projecting the downfall of the Nets during the first half of the season based solely on the fact whether the team plays in New Jersey or Brooklyn, it is still the Nets. But what those analysts forget is that the Nets not only changed its home for this season, it changed its roster significantly as well. When the team added Joe Johnson and a couple of other players, it prepared itself for a sustained run to the playoffs this season.
The Chicago Bulls has spent most of this season preparing itself to play without Derrick Rose. The sports betting experts could see the energy drain from the Bulls when Rose announced that he would sit the entire season if he had to. Now that this Chicago roster knows that it is on its own for the remainder of the season, it is time for Chicago to step up and hold on to its playoff spot. If the Bulls make the playoffs and remain healthy, then there is no telling just how far this team can go.
The Nets are not in a position to make a run for first place in the Eastern Conference, but the legal online sports betting experts definitely think that Brooklyn can challenge the New York Knicks for first place in the Atlantic Division. The Nets is only two games out of first place in its division and Brooklyn would love to have home court advantage for as long as possible in the playoffs. The Nets are constantly pushing the issue with the Knicks and wins within the conference would also be a great help to Brooklyn as well.
The Bulls has an outside chance at catching the Indiana Pacers for first place in the Central Division, but Chicago will want to focus more on distancing itself from the two teams chasing it in the conference standings. There is only three and a half games that separates the Bulls from the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks at the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff standings. The betting sites think that Chicago has more to worry about from the bottom of the conference than it does from the top. The Bulls have been in preservation mode for its playoff spot since the All-Star break.
The Bottom Line
The Nets is pushing for a better spot at the top of the conference, while the Bulls continue to fight for its playoff life. Brooklyn has been building momentum for the past week or so and it is ready to unleash that momentum on its last 20 opponents. The Bulls should make the playoffs, but with losses like this, Chicago is not making it easy.
