Chicago Bulls @ New Orleans Hornets – Tuesday February 19, 2013 8:00 PM EST
The betting mystery surrounding the Chicago Bulls and Derrick Rose is getting thicker and thicker. The team says that it expects Rose to be able to return sometime after the All-Star break, while Rose himself has indicated that he will sit out the entire season if he has to. In the meantime, the Bulls have run into injury problems again as the team is racking up key injury after key injury. At this point, Chicago is doing everything that it can to keep pace with the Indiana Pacers in the Central Division, but that momentum is fading quickly.
The New Orleans Hornets entered the All-Star break in a unique position. The sports betting experts have noticed that the Hornets went 5-5 in its last 10 games leading up to the All-Star break and the Hornets has built up some momentum in its favor. That is not to say that the Hornets is suddenly a threat to make the playoffs. But there is a lot to be said for the positive momentum that New Orleans has built in the last couple of weeks when compared to the difficult time that the Bulls has been having. This game is already shaping up to be one of those games that the Bulls will want to forget.
The online betting sites have been following the saga of Derrick Rose all season long, but no one seems to have any answers at this point. Rose has been able to work out with the team and take practice drills, but on a limited basis. The person that seems to be slowing Rose’s progress for recovery is Rose himself. When he came out and said that he will sit the entire season if he has to, the entire collective heart of the Chicago basketball world sank. It has become apparent that Derrick Rose could very well miss the rest of this season.
New Orleans Hornets
The sportsbook experts have noticed that rookie Anthony Davis seems to be developing well in New Orleans, but he is just one player on a roster filled with holes. But that roster has been able to put a respectable string together the past couple of weeks, and now it brings that string into its home court to see if it can nail down a win immediately after the All-Star break. The Hornets is not a threat to make the playoffs, but it is definitely a threat to beat the Bulls.
The Bottom Line
Chicago is probably going to have to re-evaluate where it is at when this season ends and see if it wants to keep on waiting on Rose or start to develop a team without him. The indecision is affecting the team and now it looks like Chicago’s very playoff life is in the balance with every game.
