The Boston Red Sox are the team to beat in baseball with 15/4 odds of winning the World Series and this weekend will get the chance to start their chase for the pennant lined up against an AL East rival in the Tampa Bay Rays. These are the playoffs we’ve long been waiting for.
Although they haven’t qualified for the postseason since 2009, these Red Sox have been one of the most consistent contenders in the Majors for much of the past decade. Can David Ortiz and company officially put 2012’s lousy showing behind them with a push for the title here in 2013?
Boston will open their postseason with a best-of-five series against a Rays team coming off of major victories in both the American League Wild Card game, and a tie-breaker with the Texas Rangers at the end of the regular season. The momentum is enough to give them 8/1 odds on the MLB futures.
Needless to say, it’s officially October ladies and gentlemen, so pull up a seat and weigh in on the League Division Series.
