It was a long, crazy year in baseball, one that saw a once-forgotten franchise battle its way from worst-to-first, only to remain there formidably for the rest of the season. We saw a notorious loser finally break its postseason drought and a couple of fan favorites step up and show that they’re ready for the limelight again – and you thought betting on the World Series would be easy this season.
Now that the dust of the regular season has finally settled, however, the question is whether or not those Dodgers, Pirates, Red Sox and Braves can turn their summer success into fall championships.
Currently leading the MLB futures is Boston with 4/1 odds of winning the World Series. They’re trailed by Los Angeles at 17/4, the Detroit Tigers at 5/1 and the St. Louis Cardinals at 11/2.
The two teams with the lowest MLB odds heading into the postseason are the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds, two NL Central contenders pitted against each other in the National League Wild Card Game.
The rest of the playoff pack consists of American League hopefuls in Tampa Bay, Oakland and Cleveland, giving fans of every variety plenty of options to choose from as the playoffs start up in earnest.
Needless to say, there are plenty of storylines to follow this October. The good news? They all lead to one goal.
