The Los Angeles Dodgers were the hottest team in baseball for pretty much the entire summer – just ask MLB oddsmakers – so it comes as no surprise that at least some of that carried over with them into the fall. After finishing atop the NL West in the regular season, they’ve become the first to earn a spot in a League Championship Series.
When the Dodgers lined up with the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS, skeptics wondered if they would have enough left in the tank to hang with a Braves team that managed to jump out of the gates swinging and never look back.
If the MLB futures are any indication, the message is loud and clear. Now as they await the winner of Pittsburgh and St. Louis, they do so with 5/2 odds of winning the World Series.
The Dodgers will need continued production from starters Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke if they hope to live up to their top dog status in the sportsbook, but considering how far the club has come since the spring, that’s not so much of a stretch.
