Thanks to a number of upsets over the course of the first NCAA Tournament weekend, betting on March Madness has taken a turn for the unpredictable. Heading into the Sweet 16, fans will have to take a good, long look at not only the remaining top seeds, but mid-major contenders and Cinderellas alike.
With just 11 of the top 20 teams still standing, elite level March Madness odds are no indication of tournament success – just ask the No. 1 overall Gonzaga Bulldogs who fell at the hands of No. 9 Wichita State. (The Shockers have 40/1 odds of winning the tournament).
While the No. 1 Louisville Cardinals top the college basketball futures with 3/1 odds of winning March Madness, their success is far from guaranteed.
