Kyrie Irving loyal to the Cavaliers

Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed upon a five-year, $90 million contract extension.

Irving’s future with the Cavaliers was uncertain, but he agreed to the extension less than two hours after meeting with Dan Gilbert, David Griffin and David Blatt.

If Irving had declined the max extension offer, he would become a restricted free agent in 2015 and couldn’t become an unrestricted free agent until 2016.

“Kyrie is looking forward to growing with the organization and city of Cleveland over next six years,” said agent Jeff Wechsler.
