First Round Statistics Hint At Lebron, Heat Being Poised To Repeat As NBA Champions

1onitU.St.56The Miami Heat became just the sixth team in NBA history to sweep a best-of-seven series while winning all four games by double-digits. That shouldn’t be much of a surprise, considering that Lebron James has played for three of the six teams that have accomplished that sports betting feat. Lebron led the Cleveland Cavaliers through the first two rounds of the 2009 playoffs, winning each of the eight games by 10 points or more. That was prelude to what Lebron and the Heat is capable of doing as they look to repeat as NBA champions, and some key stats from the opening round could be a sign that this team is poised to do exactly that.

Miami came within six wins of setting the NBA record for consecutive victories, but that won’t matter nearly as much if they get the job done in the postseason. Milwaukee Bucks’ guard Brandon Jennings had a lot to say before the series got underway, but he was shut down both on the score sheet and in the locker room afterwards once the Heat took care of him. Jennings had just three points in Milwaukee’s game-four loss on Sunday, and there is no doubt the Miami defense keyed in on him after he disrespected them in the media before the online sportsbook series got underway. Jennings talked about how the Heat would win in six, but they ended up being swept in four-straight.

Lebron has been dominant since the outset, and really has seemed to turn the corner in terms of his confidence since last year’s championship run. Game four against the Bucks was yet another online sports betting example of this, as with 9:25 remaining in the fourth quarter and Miami up five, Lebron once again took over. James took over as the team’s primary ball handler, and the Heat went on a 14-5 run that extended their lead to 14 points and pretty much sealed the series. Lebron once again led his team in points, rebounds, and assists, the 37th time in his career that he has done so in a playoff game. Lebron has now averaged more than 30 points per game in 13 career road playoff games in which his team has had the chance to clinch, the third-highest average in NBA history.

One of the lesser talked about stats from Miami’s opening round series, is that this was the first time since Lebron and Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade and the Heat that they clinched a playoff series sweep. Mark that down as another sign of how strong this Miami team is, and the killer instinct the team has played with since the start of a 27-game win streak earlier in the online betting season. The Heat are poised to chase down an NBA title for the second-straight season, and their dominant performance in the opening round is just another sign of what this team is capable of doing.
