The NFL season continues to zig and zag in all sorts of directions, with teams pinballing up and down in the standings as week 13 arrives. How will the balance of power change this weekend?
Arizona Cardinals @ Philadelphia Eagles
This is a game that features the most surprising 7-4 team in the NFL, and the second-most surprising team in the league behind the 9-2 Kansas City Chiefs. The Arizona Cardinals seemed like a nice story a week ago, but after they wiped out the Indianapolis Colts in week 12, they need to be taken even more seriously. They’re going into Philadelphia to face the Eagles, who are coming off a much-needed bye week after a season filled with injuries and all sorts of adversity. This game will be a test of the Cardinals’ consistency, and it will challenge the Eagles’ offensive line. The matchup between Philadelphia’s offensive front and Arizona’s defensive line will very likely decide the outcome of this game.
Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings
This is a game that is shrouded in uncertainty, due to the Bears’ quarterback situation. Chicago ran into a dose of reality this past weekend, as quarterback Josh McCown was unsteady in a loss to the St. Louis Rams. The Bears had been getting some good performances from McCown, but now they can’t be so sure. Jay Cutler might perhaps return at quarterback, but the mysteries surrounding the Bears at this point will make it hard to see how Chicago will compete against Minnesota. The Vikings are not quitting on their season. They tied the Green Bay Packers on the road and will be a tough out for the Bears.
New England Patriots @ Houston Texans
This is a game which, a year ago, would have been a blockbuster. This season, the Texans are limping toward the finish line, enabling the Patriots to consolidate their hold on the number two playoff seed in the AFC.
