The European House (UEFA) is preparing a new plan to round off the current season in European club competitions, the Champions League and the Europa League. Final-four tournaments are likely to be organized in both competitions in Istanbul and Gdansk, cities that are set to host the finals this year.
The four teams that will compete in the semifinals would compete for the trophy with two knockout matches, a formula that has been operating in basketball and handball for several years.
The UEFA idea will be presented to the clubs on Tuesday through a conference call. The terms will still depend on the development of the coronavirus situation in Europe and the world.
