The Brooklyn Nets get one last chance to win a game in Chicago on Thursday. If they don’t make good use of it, their season will be over, and Chicago will face Miami in round two.
NBA Playoffs – Eastern Conference First Round, Game 6:
Brooklyn Nets @ Chicago Bulls – Thursday, May 2
Sport betting line: Chicago -2
Why Brooklyn Will Win
When sports betting online, it is prudent to look not just at the scoreboard in a series, but at the condition of the two teams involved in the battle. The Bulls were blown out in Game 1 and wobbled for most of Game 4, and they looked deficient in a Game 5 loss that has sent this series back to Chicago for Game 6. In a review, you will also see that the Nets are playing a wounded opponent. Chicago is the team battling injuries in this series. Joakim Noah has been physically limited by a case of plantar fasciitis. Derrick Rose is, of course, out of the lineup. Kirk Hinrich, whose defense was so important for Chicago in Game 4, missed Game 5 on Monday night. His outlook is not good for Game 6 on Thursday. Hinrich’s limitations could enable Deron Williams to go off and produce the kind of superstar game that will send this series back to Brooklyn for a Game 7 on the weekend.
Why Chicago Will Win
A pay per head bookie service that takes business on this contest might lean to the Bulls because they look like the team that has taken charge of the series and has exhibited more composure in times of trial. Over the course of five games, two teams learn how they match up and find who has the psychological edge, if one is to be found. This competitive balance was seized by Chicago in Game 2, and the Bulls are still the team that’s owning the big moments. Chicago played Games 2 and 3 exactly the way it wanted to and has shown more toughness than the Nets to this point. The Bulls could have made excuses with their injuries, but they have put forth more effort than the Nets. They have limited Brooklyn’s effectiveness in the paint and have dared the Nets to shoot three-point shots. Brooklyn has not been able to hit them… not enough to make a difference, at any rate. Brooklyn star Deron Williams has underperformed in this series, and while teammate Joe Johnson has produced some impressive flourishes, especially in Game 4, they have not been enough to swing the advantage to the Nets. Williams and Johnson will have to be at their best for Brooklyn to win here, but the evolution of this series suggests that won’t happen. The Nets have looked timid and cowed on most occasions. They know that the Bulls are injured, but that didn’t enable them to win either Game 3 or Game 4 in the Windy City. Chicago is finding more ways to win, and as long as Nate Robinson – the hero of Game 4 last Saturday – is good for at least one strong second-half scoring flurry, the Bulls should be in good shape.
Who Will Win?
The sense here is that while Brooklyn will put up a fight, the Bulls will get more contributions from more players in the fourth quarter. Chicago, led by an elite coach, Tom Thibodeau, will close this series out and force an immature Brooklyn team to lament what might have been.
